While it’s pretty hard to keep track of the various transfers at Chelsea, one you really need to keep an eye out for is youngster Kendry Páez.
That’s at least according to Clarín, who are full of praise for the Independiente del Valle youngster who is ‘already sold to Chelsea’.
The newspaper explains that Páez was again the star of the show for his club this week, shining in the 2-0 win over San Lorenzo in the Copa Libertadores.
They say the youngster continued to demonstrate why everyone is so excited about the midfielder, who played a little further back yesterday. Some people even ‘dare’ to call him the Ecuadorian Messi, and that comparison to the Argentina legend is what Clarín headline with.
Páez again demonstrated his talent in this game and was undoubtedly the best on the field by a distance.
He was a key part of his team controlling the game throughout, helping them to subdue their opponents and assert themselves for a comfortable victory.
That should all come as good news to Chelsea, who moved quickly to secure his signature last year ahead of any potential competition.
They’re excited about the player they’ve got and have been working to integrate him ever since, regularly bringing him to England to help him adapt.
Indeed, a report yesterday even stated that they may send him to Strasbourg for a year to help him become accustomed to life in Europe first.
For now, he remains in Ecuador developing his game and earning rave reviews, where people are already daring to liken him to Messi.
