Manchester United parted ways with Jose Mourinho last December after a series of poor results in the first half of the season.
This included defeats at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, with the clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side in December being his last match in charge of the Red Devils.
The Portuguese tactician gave an interview to L’Equipe and the French newspaper asked his opinion about Mauricio Pochettino and the ex-Borussia Dortmund coach.
“They have the team, they have the players, the structures, and they are good coaches,” Mourinho said.
Spurs were the only team in the Premier League to not make any additions to their squad either in the last summer transfer window or earlier this year in January.
L’Equipe asked Mourinho to give his thoughts on the former Southampton boss. The question that was put forward to him was ‘Mauricio Pochettino wins without recruiting …’
To which, Mourinho said: “He won what, what trophy? I admire the work of Mauricio and Jürgen, both deserve to achieve something great, and there is nothing greater than holding the Champions League, but one of them will lose.”
Pochettino is in contention to win the first silverware of his managerial career as Tottenham take on the Reds in the final of Europe’s elite club competition.
