Wolverhampton Wanderers want to watch defender Yerson Mosquera perform at the Copa America before deciding what to do with him this summer.
That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who say Villarreal’s hopes of securing Mosquera on a permanent basis could rest on his performances for his country.
The defender has spent the second half of this season on loan at Villarreal and been a regular for them, featuring in 80% of the available minutes in the league since his arrival.
The Spanish side are keen on a permanent deal for him but Wolves, who hadn’t found a place for him before his move to Spain, are holding off on making a decision for now.
According to the newspaper, they want to sit and watch how Mosquera performs at the Copa America before deciding what to do with him.
Whether that’s to see if he’s good enough to be a part of Gary O’Neil’s squad or if they should be demanding more for him isn’t made clear, but that’s the plan.
If they do decide to sell, Villarreal could consider a deal worth between €6-8m, with manager Marcelino a fan of the player and more than happy to get him back on a permanent basis.
That all depends on Wolves, who it seems are yet to decide on the defender and want more time to think about matters before doing so.
