On Friday morning, we covered optimistic news from the Italian media regarding Napoli’s interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman.
A story from newspaper Corriere Dello Sport claimed that the Serie A side wanted the 26-year-old to replace Kim Min-jae, and would offer €35m for his signing.
It turns out that as Italian journalist Giovanni Scotto now writes about this situation, he claims Kilman could be about to stay at Wolves.
According to Scotto, Wolves turned down the €30m offered by Napoli, and then started negotiations to get Kilman’s deal renewed.
The defender’s current deal with the English club only expires in 2026, with an option for an extra year. Still, a new contract is always a nice way to give footballers a pay raise and change their minds about a potential exit from the club.
Even though Kilman is valued by Transfermarkt at €30m, reports from Italy claimed Wolves were demanding €40m for his sale, and Napoli were struggling to match that price.
