This weekend, the Portuguese press came out with surprising news saying Roderick Miranda could be leaving Wolves already in the January market.
The defender, who was signed from Benfica just last summer, would be a target for Braga, who have just lost the defender Ricardo Ferreira to a serious injury.
But as all the sports newspapers in Portugal are reporting something about the chase today, it seems the majority of them believe that Wolves won’t let Roderick leave the club so easily.
The newspaper claims the defender is already off the wishlist, because Wolves have already rejected the offers for a permanent or a loan transfer.
Outlet A Bola has the same opinion, as they call the chase ‘complicated’. Braga manager Abel Ferreira would have already given up on the signing as he was told about its improbability. The reason for it is because Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo doesn’t want the player to go.
The only paper reporting a different, and maybe outdated scenario, is Record. They claim that a national team spot is what Braga would use as an argument to convince Roderick to move.
By playing in Portugal, the defender would be ‘closer’ to national team manager Fernando Santos, and as he hasn’t been a starter for Wolves, he ‘sees with good eyes’ a loan to Braga.
But even if all these reports are true, and Roderick may want to return to Portugal temporarily, Wolves have already said no. With little time to replace him in the January window and by getting these offers just six months after his arrival, the deal seems unlikely.
