Matheus Cunha has been left out of Atlético Madrid’s squad for the Copa del Rey clash against Arenteiro as he finalises a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say his absence is one of the ‘significant’ ones in the list of players travelling for the clash.
Cunha has been heavily linked with a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano over the last few weeks, with it made clear he is on the list of players the Spanish side want to sell to help fill a hole in their finances.
Wolves have been leading the race for his signature and several reports this week have made it clear they are close to getting a deal over the line.
Mundo continue along that track, reporting that the forward is ‘finalising his move’ to Wolves, which ‘could become official in the next few hours’.
He is not a part of the squad travelling to Galicia for the clash with Arenteiro in the Copa del Rey, a further sign that he is on his way and a deal is close to being finalised.
The forward is one of six Atlético players to miss the trip, but his absence is seen as a ‘significant’ one this close to the January transfer window.
