Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Fluminense midfielder André is now highlighted by the Portuguese media.

Newspaper Record features a story to say Sporting recently made an approach for the player.

There, it’s said that the Lions had ‘exploratory contacts’ for the signing, and heard that the investment would need to be pretty big, with Fluminense demanding €25m for the transfer.

That’s labelled as an ‘astronomic amount’, as Sporting also need to worry about the competition from other leagues, and that’s where Wolves get a mention.

Now another reason why the Lisbon side don’t feel confident in this pursuit is that André himself is said not to be keen on moving to Portugal.

It’s claimed that the midfielder told his agent Carlos Leite that he wants to make a move straight to a top league, such as the Premier League, ‘now’.

He doesn’t want to go to a ‘secondary market’ like Portugal, even though that’s a usual route taken by Brazilian players.

So in case Wolves do have the money to invest in that signing, they seem to be a few steps ahead of competition of the likes of Sporting.
