Chivas forward Alexis Vega has indicated he wants to leave the Mexican club, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the sides to have ‘shown interest’ in him.
That’s according to El Universal, who say the player is now pushing for a move to Europe after returning from the World Cup with Mexico.
They report that Vega ‘no longer wants’ to continue his career at Chivas after his experience in Qatar and so a ‘new soap opera’ is set to develop in Guadalajara.
Vega is currently resting after the tournament but has made it clear to Chivas’ board that his ‘intention is to be signed’ by a club in Europe and end his association with Chivas.
So far, no formal offer has arrived at the Rebaño Sagrado, but the player is ‘convinced’ it will happen at some point to allow him to ‘make the leap’ to the old continent.
Wolves are one of those to have ‘shown interest’ in him, with their name pushed forward as an option last month.
They’re likely to be busy in January bolstering their squad for new manager Julen Lopetegui and the forward line is an area in need of improvement after its struggles in the first half of the campaign.
Whether Vega is the answer is up for debate but with Raúl Jiménez already in the squad, they do have a strong voice to help them convince Vega if Wolves do make their move.
