Even though Wolverhampton Wanderers still couldn’t succeed in their pursuit for Atletico Madrid defender Felipe, that still doesn’t mean they’re out of the race for him.

The Brazilian version of Goal today features a story claiming that clubs from the South American country have been interested in the 33-year-old, but were unsuccessful in their approaches.

Following contacts from Atlético Mineiro and São Paulo, the player’s staff claimed his preference is to stay in Europe, ‘especially because of the financial matter’.

And there’s actually only one European side who are named in that story, and that’s Wolves. It’s claimed the Molineux side ‘recently’ made an approach for the defender, but the talks have not advanced ‘yet’.

Felipe has been playing little at Atletico Madrid, and even though his contract runs until the end of the season, it’s claimed the defender ‘should’ leave the club in the January transfer window.

With the player ruling out a move to Brazil, it doesn’t seem like Wolves have a lot of competition for the signing. Earlier today, ESPN claimed the defender’s requests have been a setback in talks with the Molineux side.
