With Portugal kicking off their World Cup bid on Thursday as they prepare to face Ghana, very little talk surrounding the national team has been about football.
Most of it has been about Cristiano Ronaldo and his recent exit from Manchester United, but there are other players in the squad who are also the subjects of their own transfer rumours, such as Rúben Neves, currently contracted to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Wolves star’s contract at Molineux is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and with a renewal seemingly far from reached, he is becoming an attractive target for clubs such as Barcelona.
The La Liga side’s interest in the player is one that has often been covered, and journalist Veronica Brunati brings the latest from her end on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, she reported that according to a ‘very good Portuguese source’, Barcelona have ‘practically closed’ a deal to sign the Wolves player.
She also has bits and bobs to stay about his headline grabbing national teammate, but that doesn’t directly involve the Molineux side.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with the Wolves star going forward, but it would be surprising to see Julen Lopetegui agree to let one of his best players leave in January without a fight, unless he has other plans in mind for his new club.
