Wolverhampton Wanderers star João Gomes has told ESPN Brasil that he would endorse the Premier League side signing Flamengo duo Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Pedro.
Gomes arrived at Wolves from the Brazilian club at the start of this year and has quickly adapted to the needs of English football. Operating as a defensive midfielder, he’s featured 24 times.
The 22-year-old is the product of Flamengo’s academy and after climbing through their ranks, he made his way into their senior team in 2020. During his time with the latter, he played alongside Pedro and the Uruguayan before moving to Molineux.
Pedro has scored 31 goals and registered four assists from 58 games while De Arrascaeta has managed 11 goals and 12 assists from 51 games this year. The Wolves player is well aware of the qualities and profile of the striker and the 29-year-old attacking midfielder.
When ESPN Brasil asked Gomes who he would choose to sign for Gary O’Neil’s side, he named the two Flamengo players.
“I think I would choose two. One would be Pedro and the other De Arrascaeta. Those guys are geniuses. And I already know them, for me I think it would be easier for us to fit in here and continue this good work that is being developed,” he said.
