The Mexican media continues to follow very closely the situation of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Raúl Jiménez following his head injury at the weekend.

Besides bringing all possible news from England, the local press have now managed to speak to national team manager Tata Martino, who was able to give an update on the striker’s situation.

“These are things that happen in football, I am not saying that they are normal, but sometimes these kind of strong clashes happen,” Tata Martino told TUDN.

“The main thing was to know the evolution of Raul’s health and, to this day, it’s very good. Our doctor has even made contact with him, he’s seen him well, with great force. His evolution is as expected and, as appropriate, the Wolverhampton doctors want to have a control of 48-72 hours after the surgery that was performed to complete his evolution and, surely, in a few days it will be a bad memory for him.”

The manager revealed he’s had a chat with Raúl to make sure he’s fine, even though Wolves haven’t been giving a lot of information on how the recovery is going.

“We had contact by video call and normal contact without any problems. I know the club’s secrecy in not giving information that is not adequate, but we have permanent contact with them and we are seeing what his evolution is and we are very positive about the future.”

The manager also made sure to say that the injury won’t impact the rest of Raúl Jiménez career, as his future in football isn’t in danger.

“I don’t think so. Raúl, first of all, he’s a footballer and a very strong person, with a great head, with a very positive mentality; He’s very intelligent, I don’t think we have it, at least not for us that we have permanent contact with the club’s doctors, with Raúl, with his wife. We know first-hand how his evolution is and the truth is that, as I said before, in a few days it’ll be left behind and his evolution will begin to be seen, already thinking about his return to the pitch.”

Raúl Jiménez has been Mexico’s biggest star for a while now, so there’s obviously some concern regarding his future with the national team. Rumours from this week claim that former Manchester United and West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez is the favourite to replace him in the upcoming games.
