Frequently linked to a move away from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ruben Neves is back being mentioned in transfer stories from the Spanish media.
This time, it’s Marca who have been writing about the future of Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets, who’s expected to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the season.
With Barça getting prepared to lose the 34-year-old, there are already couple of alternatives being analysed. And according to the story, the Wolves’ star is one of them.
Marca label Neves as a ‘big objective’ for the Catalan side, with the pursuit going on for a long time. They highlight that the midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes has a great relationship with president Joan Laporta, and that’s an important factor in the negotiation for the La Liga giants to succeed in the operation.
Unlike Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who is Barça’s other option, the Wolves player doesn’t have a release clause in his contract. So it’s said the Camp Nou club would still have to negotiate a fee for the Portuguese player, who’s valued by Trasnfermarkt at €40m.
Depending on how much Bruno Lage’s side ask for Neves, that may be a reason for Barcelona to choose the other target.
