Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder André has admitted he thinks teammate João Gomes will leave the club before too long as he undoubtedly has bigger plans for his career.
ESPN cover comments from the midfielder today made in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil, in which he discusses his teammate.
The two know each other well, with both coming through the youth ranks in Brazilian football at Fluminense and Flamengo, where they eventually faced each other as rivals in the first team.
Now they’re teammates at Molineux and part of a Brazilian contingent at Wolves alongside the likes of Pedro Lima and Matheus Cunha.
Gomes has been impressing this season with four goals and two assists in 31 games in all competitions to date and a growing importance under Vitor Pereira.
He’s reportedly been gaining admirers thanks to his performances, with consistent reports that Liverpool have a longstanding interest in the Brazilian midfielder and could move for him this summer.
André has nothing to say about that particular rumour but can see his teammate moving from Wolves sooner rather than later, believing that the 24-year-old has big plans for his career.
“About João, I played against him several times in the youth team, in the professional team, we have the same agent,” he said.
“He helped me a lot when I got there, I stayed at his house for a few days, he took me to and from training.
“Both he and Cunha were two very important people when I got there, for my adaptation. I really root for him. We also have a good rapport. I hope he continues to grow. He may not be here for long because he’s such a great player, he’ll have bigger goals in the near future.”
