Wolverhampton Wanderers have denied claims that striker Sasa Kalajdzic was injured during his medical but signed by the club anyway.
The Austrian forward joined Wolves from Stuttgart in the summer but tore his cruciate ligament on his debut against Southampton, with it currently unclear whether he will return this season.
Rumours have been swirling about the situation over the last week, with BILD reporting that a recent edition of the Talking Wolves podcast revealed some shocking details.
According to their information, the striker was reportedly diagnosed with the torn cruciate ligament during his medical check before his transfer was finalised.
However, the claim is that those in charge at Molineux decided to push ahead with the transfer anyway as they needed a replacement for Raul Jimenez.
This causes Stuttgart, and presumably Wolves, ‘to gasp’ but the club have come out to deny it vehemently.
BILD contacted a spokesperson for the club who told them; “I can confirm that this rumour, this claim, is complete and slanderous nonsense”.
That’s a statement the newspaper says ‘matches’ with their own information.
On the striker, they add this his rehabilitation is going ‘according to plan’, although it is unclear whether he will return this season despite the player himself speaking confidently on the matter in interviews in recent weeks.
