It wasn’t a secret Raul Jimenez’s permanent signing would be announced today, given how Wolves had teased with it.

Portuguese outlets are now reporting the move with no big surprise, and they actually show how positive it is for local giants Benfica.

A Bola brings a story today saying Jimenez is the biggest Eagles’ sale in history, just as he’s Wolves’ most expensive signing as well.

To make it the number one sale, the local media needs to make up the numbers a little. They must add the €3m paid by Wolves for a one-year loan to the €38m they’re about to pay for the permanent move.

With a total of €41m, Jimenez becomes more expensive than Ederson and Axel Witsel, who left for €40m to Manchester City and Zenit.

Jimenez also represented some great profit for Benfica, since they paid €21.8m to take him from Atletico Madrid.

Two seasons ago, when the Portuguese press said Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira wanted to make €40m with Jimenez’s sale, we doubted they could do that, since he wasn’t even getting starts at the club.

Now they prove us very wrong, because they’re Benfica, after all.
