Over the past few months, Wolves have repeatedly been linked with a move for Lazio’s Christos Mandas.
Corriere dello Sport reported Vitor Pereira’s side made a €20m offer for the Greek stopper in the summer. This was rejected, as the Italian side were under a transfer ban.
In January, the Rome club will be open to a sale. Today’s Corriere dello Sport note that Wolves were indeed interested in the 24-year-old in the summer.
His entourage had registered an enquiry from the West Midlands club. It is understood that Wolves never made a formal offer but were willing to shell out €20m.
Now, the situation is changing. Mandas is yet to play once in Serie A this season.
Maurizio Sarri has taken a liking towards Ivan Provedel. This has led to a drop in the Greece international’s valuation. Lazio want to make some sales in January and Mandas is a key candidate.
Due to this desperation and the player’s lack of game time, Wolves can now get a discount.
Lazio spent just €1m to sign Mandas in 2023. Even if they pocket less than €20m, they will still make a big capital gain from the deal.
Wolves remain interested and the situation can now favour them.
