With Liverpool having huge need of making a turnaround in the season, recent reports claimed Jurgen Klopp would like to add Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves to the Reds’ squad.
Those rumours were reported in the English media, and it turns out that when arriving in Portugal, they didn’t get an exciting development.
Newspaper O Jogo today features a story claiming that according to their sources, Wolves do not intend to negotiate Ruben Neves in the January transfer window.
The outlet claims that decision will force Liverpool to go look for a more affordable option for their midfield.
The scenario, however, is expected to change in the next summer.
O Jogo points out that Neves’ contract with Wolves expires in 2024, so the off-season will be the last time Wolves will have the chance to cash in with the sale.
Even though Liverpool may want until then, it’s still recalled that Barcelona have been strongly linked to the player, so the Reds should have to make an extra effort to convince him of moving to Anfield.
