Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou has been endlessly linked with a move to Beşiktaş in recent weeks and a deal is now close.
The Black Eagles need to sign a central defender following the departure of Gabriel Paulista and Agbadou is their prime target. Paulista has returned to Brazil, with the 35-year-old terminating his contract.
Fulham’s Issa Diop has also been on the Beşiktaş wish-list, however, that one didn’t get very far.
Last week Agbadou’s agent was spotted at an Istanbul airport as he travelled for transfer talks regarding his client. The Wolves defender has been presented as being keen on a move to the Super Lig, with Rob Edwards’ side facing likely relegation to the Championship.
Sozcu report on developments regarding Beşiktaş’ pursuit for the Wolves player. They say an agreement has finally been reached with the Premier League club.
Previous reports stated Agbadou had already agreed personal terms with the Super Lig side. These details have yet to be disclosed.
Wolves accept latest Beşiktaş offer
According to the Turkish media outlet a €11.5m transfer fee has been agreed between the two clubs. Beşiktaş were looking to loan Agbadou, with a €15m purchase option.
However, it seems a straight transfer is now on the agenda after further negotiations between Beşiktaş and Wolves.
Agbadou is now expected to travel to Istanbul, and the player could arrive as early as tomorrow or Wednesday. The finer details of the move will then be discussed before the Ivorian undergoes a medical.
His move to the Istanbul club had been delayed by Ivory Coast’s run to the quarterfinals of AFCON. His country were defeated by Egypt.
The 28-year-old has made 16 appearances for Wolves this season, but has been missing for the past month due to AFCON.
He’s contracted to Wolves until 2029, but is now unlikely to see that deal out.
