Wolverhampton Wanderers have been ‘put on hold’ by defender Marc Pubill, who is now undergoing medical tests for AC Milan.
That’s according to Milan News, who cover the situation today and Milan’s efforts to get ahead of Wolves for the defender.
They explain that before starting any actual negotiations with Almeria for the right-back, Milan want to gain insight into Pubill’s condition. To do this, they have sent members of their medical team to Barcelona to the clinic owned by renowned doctor Ramon Cugat.
With Almeria’s permission, they plan to put Pubill under preliminary tests, focusing on one of his knees. The results of that will be crucial in initiating negotiations with the Spanish club. In other words, if they’re positive, they’ll push ahead. It’ll be the same with his agents, who are also present at the tests.
They’ve put Wolves, who appeared to be close to doing a deal for the defender, in the background for the time being. That’s despite the Premier League side being ‘well advanced’ with the player and Almeria. Now they’ve been ‘put on hold’.
The knee problem Milan wish to assess is not a new one. In fact, the issue put an end to a potential move to Atalanta last summer at the last minute. Pubill has since spoken about it publicly.
Now it is Milan who want to do their own checks, leaving Wolves waiting in the wings despite advanced negotiations with Almeria and the player’s entourage.
