Wolverhampton Wanderers have now joined Benfica in the battle for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s Franjo Ivanović this summer.

The Eagles had been optimistic of concluding this transfer before Wolves joined the fight.

Tuesday’s edition of Jornal de Notícias reports Benfica have offered €20m plus bonuses and are in a hurry to close the operation.

The newspaper makes no mention of Wolves and Het Nieuwsblad provides the latest on their interest in the 21-year-old.

Het Nieuwsblad reports Benfica aren’t far off from reaching an agreement with the Belgian club. They seem to be ready to sell and are demanding at least €25m in fixed fee plus bonuses and a percentage of a future sale.

The two clubs will continue talks today and it’s possible for them to reach an agreement. The striker wants to take the next step, also because he can improve his salary and hopes to have clarity on his future as soon as possible.

Vítor Pereira’s side are said to have stepped in and although Benfica have an advantage, Wolves can snatch the Croatia international from their clutches.

To do that, the Belgian newspaper reports Wolves are preparing to table an offer, and it’ll be higher than the one proposed by Benfica. In other words, the fixed fee will be more than €20m.

Het Nieuwsblad warns this doesn’t guarantee Wolves success because their offer has to be right for both Ivanović and his side.
