Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Yerson Mosquera was on loan at Villarreal during the second half of last season.
He made 18 appearances for them in all competitions, and Villarreal manager Marcelino García Toral has identified the centre-back as the priority target this summer.
That’s according to Monday’s edition of El Periódico Mediterráneo, who say the La Liga side are not ruling out a move to sign him.
Back in April, the Colombia international told the same newspaper that he preferred to leave the Premier League side for Villarreal this summer. At the weekend, he spoke to reporters in Miami about having a good spell at the Spanish club.
Today’s El Periódico Mediterráneo points this out and says these are his public ‘winks’, including conversing with Dani Parejo on Instagram last week, and this gives Villarreal encouragement to take him away from Wolves.
Villarreal are not in a rush and they know the South American, if he were to leave Gary O’Neil’s side, wants to join them. They will wait until the end of the window and their idea is to sign the Wolves defender on loan with or without a buying option.
