Wolves’ Jhon Arias storyline refuses to settle, and his new interview has given Brazilian and Colombian outlets fresh material to interpret in very different ways.
Caracol Radio highlighted the winger’s difficult adaptation and noted the growing noise around a possible return to South America. Wolves’ cruel scenario fuels speculation, although the Colombian insists he remains focused on changing the club’s situation.
Arias responds to rumours from Brazil
Speaking to Flashscore, Arias addressed the growing links with Brazilian clubs. He said: “I think it’s normal. In football, there are always rumours and speculation, especially after everything I achieved in Brazil. It’s natural that they link me with one club or another. It’s part of the process.”
He continued: “Given the current situation at the club, which is not the best, we had a bad start to the season, and since the seasons are different, in Brazil people are already thinking about next season, and these rumours come up.”
Then he added: “I think that, with the transfer market open, speculation about some big Brazilian club will increase. But I’m calm, aware of the moment we’re living at Wolverhampton. Working hard to reach our goal and change what we’re experiencing.”
Those statements fit with previous claims that Arias wants to remain in Europe until at least mid-2026. They also give Wolves a clear message: the player recognises the pressure around him, yet remains committed to the club’s immediate fight.
Brazil keep pushing, and Palmeiras’ interest grows
Caracol also list Cruzeiro, Flamengo and Palmeiras as clubs linked with Arias. Among them, Palmeiras receive the most attention.
They see the winger as a priority for their 2026 rebuild and believe he fits Abel Ferreira’s tactical plan. That point gained more weight on Tuesday.
UOL Esporte journalist Flavio Latif said Arias felt “tempted” by the first contact from Palmeiras. According to Latif, the Colombian believes he could gain more protagonism at Palmeiras than he had at Fluminense, and certainly more than he has at Wolves at the moment.
Wolves remain in control of the timeline
The player’s quotes and the reports from Brazil create a wider picture. Arias acknowledges the rumours. Palmeiras prepare an aggressive window. Brazilian sources point to a possible opening if Wolves soften their stance.
Yet the winger continues to speak about staying in England, working through the adaptation process and competing for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
Wolves therefore hold the decisive position once again. Palmeiras may intensify the pursuit, and Arias may appreciate the interest.
Even so, an exit still depends on Wolverhampton’s readiness to negotiate and on any change in the player’s long-term plan. For now, neither appears guaranteed.
