Leander Dendoncker to Lazio is a story which has been building in the Italian sport media over the past few weeks or so.

The Serie A club, and particularly their director of sport Igli Tare, are keen on the Belgian for several reasons. They’ve been following him for some time, and are impressed by his ability to play in more than one position, although they see him as mainly a midfielder.

Calciomercato report today that the Wolves player is a ‘dream’ signing for Lazio this summer, with the Rome club believing he has similar qualities to Sergej Milinković-Savić.

There’s no mention from Calciomercato whether Dendoncker would be a straight replacement for Milinković-Savić, but it’s true to say the latter has been linked with a number of big clubs and would bring in a big fee.

Similar claims are also made by LaLazioSiamoNoi and Il Messeggero on Monday, however, none of the reports show a clear pathway to signing the Wolves player.

There’s no mention of a potential transfer fee, and that would likely be a big hurdle for Lazio and could kill the ‘dream’ dead. Then there’s also Dendoncker to think of, he fought to become more prominent in Nuno Espirito Santo’s thinking and, whilst Lazio are a big club, he’s in a good position in the Premier League with Wolves.

Igli Tare will likely have to look elsewhere, unless Wolves are tempted to cash-in.
