Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jonny Otto can be an ‘opportunity to reinforce’ Celta Vigo’s squad in January.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Celta are likely to bring in reinforcements to help them in their battle to avoid relegation. They are currently in 18th spot, four points behind Cádiz.

Jonny’s current situation at Wolves has seen him being pushed forward as a target for the La Liga side.

Earlier this month, Gary O’Neil had revealed the 29-year-old was involved in a “training ground incident”. Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs then confirmed the fullback has apologised and will be training away from the first team until the end of January.

He hasn’t made an appearance for the Premier League side since the end of September.

The player spent six years at Celta’s first team after graduating from their academy in 2012. It’s said the developments at Wolves has made the Spaniard’s return to his former club a ‘latent possibility’ next month.

Celta manager Rafael Benítez was quizzed about the possibility of his side carrying out a few days in January.

Responding to that, he said, relayed by Estadio Deportivo: “There are still many games left for January. The important thing is to focus on these games, on the players we have. The club is looking to the future, but I’m focusing more on the Rayo game.”
