Besides not having a great season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Raul Jimenez isn’t living the best time at the national team either.
The striker was brought on during the match against Jamaica on Sunday, and when we read the Mexican press, a couple of headlines about his participation in the game stand out.
Marca features a story pointing out it’s been a year since he last scored a goal for the national team. He has also spent that period without a goal in the Premier League, and now shares the same record in international football.
To make things worse, Mexican fans haven’t been taking it easy on Jimenez either. As written by Medio Tiempo, the striker was booed at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday.
Fans did not like to see him entering the pitch in the second half and showed their lac of satisfaction at his inclusion.
That was not personal, though, as other players such as Guillermo Ochoa were booed as well, and that’s all because of the disappointing performance in the World Cup last year.
At Wolves, Jimenez has three goal sin 18 appearances this season, but those were all scored in the EFL Cup. His contract with the club expires in 2024.
