Last summer, En Cancha reported Wolverhampton Wanderers were serious about signing Darío Osorio and sent an intermediary to directly negotiate with Universidad de Chile.
Wolves weren’t able to strike a deal in 2022. Earlier this year, the 19-year-old received interest from AC Milan and a few other clubs, but none of them were able to take him away from the Chilean side.
Fast forward to May and La Tercera have a report stating Wolves and Milan are back in the mix to sign the winger in the next window.
Universidad de Chile didn’t accept the Serie A side’s offer in January and that left the Chile international disappointed. He’s considered as an ‘exceptional player’, but ‘hasn’t yet managed to explode to the level of enthusiasm he generates.’
That’s partly because his focus is elsewhere and it’s to make a switch to Europe. Osorio is preparing to pack his bags to arrive on the continent. The report states the intention of all parties involved, including his employer, is to carry out the operation in the summer.
Milan have no intention to give up on him but they aren’t going to be the only candidate. This is when Julen Lopetegui’s side are mentioned as the Chilean is still being targeted by them.
Osorio’s mother has already revealed receiving an offer from Wolves last summer but the attacker decided against accepting it in order to continue in South America.
With La Tercera now insisting the player is keen to move to Europe and with Wolves in the mix, the Premier League side could be given a fresh chance to sign him, if they were to make another offer.
