Wolverhampton Wanderers are still in the competition to sign Mariano Diaz, according to the latest claims.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato shares a story claiming Lazio are chasing the player, as the first contacts already ‘took place’.
Since the striker’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of the season, they consider a January move still ‘complicated’, and intend to sign him for free in the summer.
Calcio Mercato then point out there’s competition for the signing, claiming that in England, ‘particularly, there is Wolverhampton’ following the 29-year-old.
Since Mariano Diaz has been on Real Madrid’s bench for a long time, the player is said to be looking for an opportunity to ‘raise himself’ and shine somewhere else, with the story pointing out he could ‘fit perfectly’ at Lazio.
Wolves interest in the striker has been reported since the start of November, following Julen Lopetegui’s arrival at the club. It’s been said in Spain that the manager has a strong wish of making the striker one of his first signings at Molineux.
