Wolverhampton Wanderers may be handed their chance to sign Barcelona midfielder Nico González this summer as the club are willing to let him depart.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say Barcelona manager Xavi is not planning on keeping the 21-year-old as a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets.
The newspaper covers the players Barcelona have had out on loan this season and what their plans are for them moving forwards.
González is one of them, having spent the season on loan at Valencia. He didn’t enjoy any success at the Mestalla thanks to injuries and their struggles this year.
That’s not ruined his image, but it does mean that Barcelona are not considering keeping him, especially as Xavi does not see him as a potential replacement for Busquets when he leaves.
A move there, then, would make plenty of sense, particularly with Ruben Neves seemingly on the verge of departing.
Indeed, a report yesterday stated that Mendes was working on that deal for Neves with Wolves and offering various players at the Camp Nou to those in charge at Molineux.
One of those mentioned in that was González and now Mundo say Mendes is working on a transfer for him and specifically mention his links to the Premier League.
At the moment that is just us putting two and two together, but we wouldn’t be surprised at all if there are more reports linking González with a move to Wolves in the coming weeks.
