Sometimes all it takes for a player is to be in the right player. Wolves wasn’t that place for Carlos Forbs, but Club Brugge has proven to be.
And it could mean he’s now in line for a big move to Napoli. That’s at least according to journalist Emanuele Cammaroto for Napoli magazine.
Forbs was on loan at Wolves last season but barely featured across the campaign, making just 11 appearances totalling 260 minutes. He managed just one assist in that time.
It was a miserable period for the winger, who had arrived from Ajax with some expectations around him. Indeed, Wolves paid €2.5m just to sign him on loan. They ended up not playing him to avoid having to buy him on a permanent basis by the end.
Ajax similarly didn’t want him, and he was sold to Club Brugge for €6m in the summer. That move has turned out to be a transformational one. He has five goals and five assists in 20 games for the Belgian side this season. He’s also shone on the big stage, particularly against Barcelona.
And that has now earned attention from Napoli, who could be ready to move for him according to Cammaroto.
“Carlos Forbs is more than just an idea,” he said.
“There are positive reports about the Portuguese Manchester City player, who is impressing with Club Brugge. Quick, explosive, capable of running and scoring, he was scouted in the Champions League and impressed with his brace against Barcelona.
“Napoli scouts had already been monitoring him in 2023-24 when he was playing for Ajax. Napoli are considering making a strong bid for Forbs. A possible €15 million offer is possible to sign this player right away, who will cost at least double in six months or a year.”
