Football is full of miserable people and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Goncalo Guedes is undoubtedly one of them, as A Bola cover today.
The forward has been enduring a difficult few years, with a big move to Wolves absolutely not working out and him yet to get back to his best on loan at Benfica either.
The forward joined the Portuguese side on loan last season after his miserable solitary year at Wolves but only managed four goals and one assist in 33 games in all competitions.
The deal was renewed in the summer, but this season has so far been ruined by injuries, with seven appearances and just 159 minutes under his belt to date thanks to an unknown injury and then a meniscal injury.
According to their information the Portuguese international is already doing work on the pitch but is not 100% aware of what injury he’s suffering from as the problem has not been clarified by Benfica.
He only returned to competing at the beginning of October, after undergoing surgery on his left knee, but has barely featured, with his longest appearance a 45-minute cameo in a 2-0 win over Chaves at the beginning of November.
The problem holding him back still hasn’t been identified according to the newspaper and, despite working on the pitch, it remains to be seen when he’ll actually return to playing properly.
That means after missing games against Famalicão and Inter, it’s uncertain whether he can play again on Sunday in Moreira de Cónegos.
All in all, it’s something of a miserable situation for the Wolves loanee, whose career once looked like it had a bright future but seems to be slowly draining away at this moment in time.
