Sporting are targeting a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rúben Vinagre this summer.

That’s according to A Bola, who say the Wolves man is the replacement for highly-rated youngster Nuno Mendes.

Mendes has been heavily linked with a move away from Portugal this summer with several big European sides, chief among them Manchester City, thought to be keen on his signature.

Sporting are expecting a transfer, say A Bola, knowing that it will ‘be difficult’ to keep hold of one of their prized assets.

As a result, they have already ‘referenced’ several possible replacements and at the ‘top of the list’ in Wolves’ Vinagre.

He’s currently on loan at Famalicão and, despite just one assist in 13 league games, has seemingly impressed those at Sporting, who have made him the ‘priority’ for the position.

There’s no mention of Wolves and if they’ll be willing to sell, but it’s easy to imagine they will be given they sent Vinagre out on loan this season.

Either way, they are likely to see a bid for him come their way, although it will take Mendes leaving first for that to happen.
