Sporting Club de Portugal are preparing to make another offer to Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Chiquinho, after making enquiries over him already.
That’s according to Record, who say Wolves are reluctant to negotiate for the player this summer and want to recover the investment they made.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Famalicão and earned attention from Sporting with his performances for them.
He’s a player who is very much on their radar as they look to strengthen this summer and they’ve made initial enquiries with Wolves about a move for him.
The Portuguese side were told by Wolves that a deal is possible but only if they can recover the €6m they paid for the player when he signed in January 2022, and they aren’t interested in negotiating that price point.
Sporting’s officials are now studying the possibilities in front of them and deciding what to do, trying to work out if there is perhaps the opportunity of getting the player on loan first, with a purchase option, or becoming part owners in his rights.
The player’s own desires could prove to be crucial as he wants to stay in Portugal but would also like to play for a team in the Champions League. Sporting tick the boxes on both fronts.
