Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a €15m offer for winger Rodrigo Gomes as they look to beat Atletico Madrid to his signature.

That’s according to Record, who say Wolves have returned to the ‘fight’ for the Braga winger, who has spent this season impressing at Estoril.

According to their information, given to them via a source linked to the operation, the Premier League side have not yet given up in the signing of the under-21 international and presented an offer worth €15m to Braga for him.

That matches the bid from Atletico Madrid for him, which was sent earlier this week and kickstarted the battle for the player.

Those responsible at Wolves have watched Gomes throughout this season and expressed an interest in signing him in January.

They went as far as expressing their interest to Braga in an attempt to work out the potential boundaries of the operation and how much he would cost.

A deal wasn’t done and since then Atletico have moved forward, with it reported in Portugal that he was very close to joining Diego Simeone’s side.

Wolves are now trying to stop that happening, though, making their own bid to muddy the waters and try and stop him heading to the Wanda Metropolitano. Whether their effort has been enough remains to be seen.

Record suggest what may actually happen is that Braga and the player end up benefitting from a tug-of-war scenario that sees both getting more as the two clubs battle it out for him.
