Diogo Leite has been an important player for Union Berlin in the last few seasons. Wolves are now keeping a close eye on the Portuguese defender.
So far, the 26-year-old has played 11 times in the Bundesliga. He has featured as many as 90 times across the last three campaigns too but an exit could soon be on the cards.
Leite’s contract at the German club runs out in 2026 and his situation is attracting the attention of many clubs.
Quotidiano Sportivo report that the defender is seen as a replacement for Jhon Lucumi by Bologna. The Colombian is expected to depart next summer, with the Rossoblu struggling to tie him down to a new contract.
The Italian club are expected to face some competition from Wolves, Girona and even Fiorentina.
The report states Bologna are one of the leading candidates to land Leite, with AC Milan and Fenerbahce also seen as options.
As of now, a move to Wolves is unlikely to appeal to Leite. He has major ambitions regarding his future, with the report indicating that he wants to play European football regularly.
Rob Edwards’ side are rock bottom in the Premier League. The same is also true for Fiorentina, who are 20th in Serie A. As a result, the defender isn’t particularly attracted.
He is waiting to make a decision about his future as the line of suitors is expected to grow.
