The idea of Rui Patrício leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers to join AS Roma in the summer transfer window continues to grow in Italy.

On Monday, Calciomercato explained the goalkeeper is ‘rated’ by José Mourinho and his move to the Serie A side is ‘getting closer’, thanks to help from his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Sky Italia once again state the former Chelsea manager has ‘chosen’ the 33-year-old to be his new custodian next season at the Stadio Olimpico.

It’s claimed the Giallorossi’s new manager views the Portugal international as the ‘ideal goalkeeper’ for Roma, considering his experience.

According to the report, the Premier League side asked around €12m to allow the keeper to leave the club this summer. The Italian capital club, however, would like to sign Patrício for a lower fee and are aiming to ‘close the deal’ for €7-8m plus bonuses.

Roma are putting on the pressure to complete Patrício’s signing, and it’s stated the English club have ‘identified’ Olympiacos’ José Sá as his potential replacement. Sky Italia explain Wolves are ‘already working’ on making Sá his compatriot’s successor at Molineux.
