On Friday, we covered claims from Brazil that Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has included Palmeiras’ Richard Rios in his transfer wish list.
RTI Esporte state the 24-year-old is not negotiating with Wolves, but they have held talks for him.
Vitor Pereira is presented as being keen on bringing the midfielder to Wolves and seems to be leading their pursuit to sign him.
The midfielder’s agent recently made a trip to Europe to find out sporting projects of interested clubs.
Wolves have had discussions with the Brazil international’s agent, who also had talks with Fulham and clubs from France, Spain and Italy.
The report says there’s a ‘real possibility’ for Rios to make a switch to the Premier League even though the talks haven’t progressed further.
Palmeiras want to have the Colombia international for the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup and it’s claimed they will only sell him in January if his €100m clause is activated. This is beyond Wolves’ reach and Pereira is well aware of this, but it’s almost certain Palmeiras are bluffing.
Rios’ salary of €80k per month is within their reach and Wolves don’t rule out waiting for until the end of this season. RTI Esporte say they could agree a deal with Palmeiras at the start of 2025 for €20m plus bonuses for Rios to arrive at Molineux in the summer.
Wolves are likely to face competition from other European clubs in their efforts to sign the Colombian.
