According to claims in Sweden, AEK Athens sporting director Daniel Majstorovic has left the Greek club. The former Sweden international has been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the past week.

SVR Sport report, via Fotboll Direkt, Majstorovic will not extend his contract with AEK.

The 40 year old’s contract expired on August 31st, and his departure now opens up a move to Wolves.

The Championship club have been impressed with the former Celtic player’s work whilst in Greece, and last season he helped AEK to second in the league, which secured a place in the Europa League.

With Majstorovic now leaving his role at AEK this gives Wolves an opportunity to bring in the Swede as their sporting director. There have been recent reports in the British press the Championship side want to take on Majstorovic to assist Nuno Espirito Santo.

Majstorovic was rumoured to be arriving at Molineux even before these recent developments, and now he’s no longer at AEK, a Wolves move is likelier.
