It seems Wolverhampton are looking to build on their recent win against Chelsea, as Le10 Sport in France believe they are planning some January recruiting to ensure they stay comfortable in the Premier League.

The French website explain that a Wolves scout was present at Lille’s 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne in midweek, where three players caught his eye.

Number one on the list, and perhaps the most unrealistic of the bunch, was Nicolas Pépé, who has been touted with moves to Barcelona and Arsenal in the future over the past few months, meaning the competition would be incredibly hard to overcome, regardless of the club’s financial power.

Now, for the other two.

Firstly, we’ve got Zeki Celik, a 21-year-old right-back who only arrived in the north of France over the summer and who has been near ever present under Christophe Galtier this season.

The second one is 24-year-old central midfielder Xeka, who spent last season at Dijon on loan after failing to impress Marcelo Bielsa enough.

Under the new regime, however, things have been very different, and the former Braga man has been essential in Lille’s great run of form in the first half of their campaign.

Also, he’s Portuguese, and we all know Wolves love players from Portugal.

While Pepe might be out of reach, Le10 state the other two could be obtainable if the right offer comes along, but we’ll believe it when we see it.

Lille have made it very clear they aren’t looking to sell their star winger, and you’d imagine the same would apply for other key components of their squad, meaning every single regular starter.

Money does talk, but it remains to be seen how badly Wolves want the players.
