Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United are chasing Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia, according to claims from Italy.
Gary O’Neil’s side were keen on signing the striker towards the end of the last window but their offer of a loan with an obligation to buy was rejected by the Italian club.
Tutto Salernitana state Wolves’ ‘paltry’ offer in the summer caused some problems for the Serie A side, which were well documented at the time. The player wanted the move and agitated for it.
It’s said Wolves have returned with another loan offer to sign the 27-year-old this month and that was also turned down by Salernitana. This could provide Newcastle and other clubs a chance to secure his services.
Faced with the possibility of losing the frontman in January, Salernitana have been looking for his successor. That’s according to La Città di Salerno, who state Newcastle, Milan and the Bundesliga side are courting the player.
Senegal have included Dia in the squad for AFCON, meaning he won’t be available for selection immediately.
He’s scored four goals from 14 games this season.
