Wolverhampton Wanderers considered signing Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Rațiu last summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who provide an insight into Wolves’ efforts and why they failed to bring him to Molineux.
Mundo explain the right-back was one of last season’s ‘great revelations’, after starring for the La Liga club. He played 36 games, managing two goals and three assists.

According to the report, the 27-year-old received offers from Spain, Germany and England. Wolves are the only club named, and it’s claimed they tabled an €18m bid.
A move to the Premier League club would have represented an important step for the fullback. However, Rayo Vallecano rejected proposals and referred to his €25m release clause.
The newspaper report the Spanish club turning down offers ‘ended up affecting’ Rațiu’s performances this season.
Rayo Vallecano manager Iñigo Pérez continued to maintain faith in the player desired by Wolves. His decision paid off as the defender assisted Alfonso Espino’s winner against Real Sociedad last weekend.
Mundo say his assist and strong defensive performance indicate Rațiu has managed to regain his form. Wolves can now wobble his head again ahead of January.
Tottenham have also been credited with interest.
