Wolverhampton are once again being linked with a move for Wallace Yan. Brazilian outlet BolaVip reports the Premier League club continue to monitor the Flamengo youngster ahead of January.

The 20-year-old forward had already been the subject of speculation during the summer. Flamengo could now be open to selling if an acceptable offer arrives.

According to the report, his release clause for foreign clubs is set at €60m (£51m), although there’s been no official bid. Considering his recent form there’s a chance of a sale at a lower amount.

Wallace Yan rose to prominence at the Club World Cup, where he became the first substitute ever to score in two consecutive matches in the competition.

The record, highlighted by FIFA, helped strengthen the youngster’s reputation as one of Flamengo’s brightest prospects. That’s when the Wolves’ links started to show.

Despite that status, his current situation is less impressive. The youngster has played only four minutes in Flamengo’s last five fixtures, leading to frustration on his part.

Filipe Luís had been giving Wallace Yan chances mainly in cup competitions. The coach hasn’t shown the same level of trust in the youngster for league matches. Following Flamengo’s elimination from those tournaments, the forward has become a peripheral figure in the squad. Wallace Yan’s opportunities are drying up almost completely.

Wolves target sends social media message

After he was left on the bench in several matches, Wallace Yan posted a black-and-white image on social media with the word “process”. That step widely interpreted in Brazil as a sign of both discontent and patience.

Between a growing fanbase in Brazil and the European interest that keeps resurfacing, the forward’s next steps remain uncertain. Wolves’ level of determination in January could define whether Flamengo choose to keep the player or cash in on a lucrative sale.

Wolves supporters may want to keep an eye on his progress between now and then.
