After reports from the English media saying Wolverhampton Wanderers are chasing the Grêmio defender Wálter Kannemann, the player’s agent has confirmed the approach.

It’s Brazilian website Globo Esporte who brings the news, saying Martin Wainbuch has admitted being contacted by the Premier League side.

They claim there are no official offers for the defender so far, since all that Wolves wanted was information on whether the player would be interested in a transfer.

According to the agent, Grêmio are looking to make US$15m (£12m) with the sale, but in case a formal offer arrives, the amount could be negotiated.

Globo Esporte adds that Arsenal also follow the situation closely and have also made contact for Kannemann. The Gunners’ interest has been reported for a while now.

Walter Kannemann was supposed to be playing the Copa America with Argentina, but is recovering from a back injury. His contract with Grêmio runs until 2022.
