Wolverhampton Wanderer’s interest in Universidad de Chile’s Darío Osorio may not be as advanced as previously claimed.
That’s according to Red Gol, who cover the player’s current struggles today and the interest in him from the Premier League.
We covered several reports over August and September making it clear that Wolves were keen on Osorio, with one journalist even claiming that a deal to take him to Molineux was already done.
Red Gol pull that back, though, explaining that any serious interest in Osorio was only shown last winter.
The Premier League was particularly keen on him, including Wolves, who ‘appeared among the interested parties’ and even sent emissaries on a trip to Chile.
However, the only ‘formal offer’ to arrive at Universidad de Chile was from Southampton and that was far from the $5m that the club were looking for.
The rest were only ‘informal calls, proposals from clubs and promises of a permanent monitoring’. In other words, there was nothing concrete from Wolves.
That would make sense given Osorio has been struggling to replicate his form from last season, with his own coach admitting he is ‘detached’ and has had ‘a lot of issues’ following the transfer talk.
Any suggestion he could be on the move is now very much on the back-burner, with any suggestion Wolves are close to a deal seemingly wide of the mark for now.
