Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer for Rodrigo Gomes, according to claims from Portugal.
Newspaper O Jogo today writes that Wolves are one of the clubs – and the only one named – who put around €15m on the table for the winger.
Gomes belongs to Braga, but is currently having a loan spell at Estoril, where he has six goals and seven assists in 26 appearances this season.
It’s claimed that Wolves have been ‘recruiting many players in Portuguese football’, but their offer for Gomes won’t be enough.
Braga have the player protected by a €45m release clause, and O Jogo claims that €15m is still ‘way below’ the amount they’re planning to make with his sale. It’s said they have enough room to ‘calmly negotiate’ the transfer.
It’s made very clear that Wolves aren’t the only club trying to sign the winger, as they’re not the only to put that amount on the table.
Given there’s no other clubs named, though, you’d have to place doubt on that.
Braga sent the player to Estoril for some playing time, and it turns out that he’s been doing so well that he should soon be sold, not expected to play for his parent club again.
Now it’s up to Wolves and others to make better offers ahead of the summer. Their interest isn’t new, as back in January, his agent revealed he’d been in touch with the Molineux side.
