Portuguese newspaper Record today features a short piece to explain Vitinha’s current situation at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
They point out that the Premier League side recently released a list of players who have a contract with them for the 2021/22 season, and since the midfielder wasn’t included, Porto fans started wondering if he could be back at the Estádio do Dragão following his loan spell in England.
The outlet went after the rumours, and even though Dragons manager Sérgio Conceição would love have Vitinha back at the club, it doesn’t look like that will happen.
Sources from Wolves explained to Record that the club do have a buying option over Vitinha, but that’s not obligatory, even though some reports previously said it’d be automatically triggered in case the club stayed in the Premier League.
That means that while Wolves don’t use their buying option to sign the player on a permanent move, they can’t say he’s staying with them for the next season.
Record then brings the most important information, which is about what will really happen to the midfielder.
They say Porto have no signs that Vitinha will be back at the club, and he should indeed stay at Wolves, who are expected to trigger the €20m clause before the 30th of June.
