Anthony Martial’s first season under Jose Mourinho didn’t exactly go swimmingly.
Relieved of the No.9 squad shirt, just after he’d branded himself around it, Martial’s agent spoke publicly about his annoyance at the situation, but with the Frenchman often looking pretty miserable, it was hard to see if things had changed.
Martial wasn’t as prominent with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club, and when given opportunities he often failed to shine, which meant Mourinho wasn’t forced to build his plans around the youngster.
They’re not the only club keen, and German magazine Kicker report Wolfsburg are interested. Their sport director Olaf Rebbe has pushed for a loan, but there’s no huge confidence he’s going to get a positive answer.
Even if Manchester United are keen, Martial may feel he could do better for a loan club, with Wolfsburg lacking European football next season.
