Juventus are looking to sign a new midfielder and in their target list, they have Borussia Dortmund’s Axel Witsel.
Last Thursday, Tutto Juve explained the Serie A side will face competition from Newcastle United for the transfer of the 32-year-old, who has received an ‘indispensable offer’ from the Magpies, worth €10m per year.
His current deal with the Bundesliga winners expires in 2022.
The Tyneside club were purchased by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in October and the new owners are expected to be busy in the coming transfer windows.
Sport1 look at some of the players linked to Newcastle, starting with the Belgium international, who has stayed ‘quiet’ about his future plans so far.
Witsel will not be short of options, because apart from Eddie Howe’s side, the Old Lady are also looking at him. It’s worth noting recent Italian reports have suggested he’s no longer Juventus’ top target.
The player is ‘open to a change’, meaning he is open to the idea of joining Newcastle.
Sport1 add there has been no talks between Dortmund and Witsel over an extension and therefore, the latter is ‘all set to say goodbye’ to the German club. With Newcastle and Juve in the picture, the report even adds a transfer in January ‘cannot be ruled out’.
