Brighton & Hove Albion defender Igor Julio is showing some high expectations for their FA Cup campaign.
The centre-back was today interviewed by ESPN Brasil ahead of the fifth round clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and claimed that he’s confident the Seagulls can get very far in the competition.
“We have every chance of winning the cup or at least reaching the final. We have the quality and ability to do it. I have a lot of confidence in the team and in what we can do”, he said.
Brazil have a new national team manager in charge, Dorival Junior, who will be naming his first squad list soon. The Brighton player was asked whether he thinks he has a chance to be in the squad, and is hopeful he’ll soon get his spot.
“I think it’s a dream for every Brazilian player to represent the national team, and mine is no different. I know that work always pays for everything, so that’s what I try to do every day. If it’s meant to be, one day my moment will come.”
Brazil are playing England and Spain in a couple of friendlies, but with the Copa America on the way, it would mean a lot for the Brighton defender to get a spot there.
Igor joined the Seagulls on a €16m move from Fiorentina last summer. Since then, he made 21 appearances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, but has been in and out of the team lately.
Since Dorival has been watching some games in England, we’ll have to wait and see if the 26-year-old caught his attention while playing for Brighton.
