Brentford are closing in on a deal for Grêmio’s Gustavo Nunes and have seen a bid for the player accepted.
That’s according to UOL, who report that the Brazilian side agreed to sell the 18-year-old to Brentford this afternoon.
They report that the winger has already signed a five-year deal with the Premier League side and is expected to travel to England for his medical in the next few days.
Brentford are exchanging the final documents to seal the deal for the winger. According to UOL’s information, they have gotten close to the €20m release clause in Nunes’ contract and this has been accepted.
The newspaper does state that Grêmio only own 80% of the players’ rights, so it remains to be seen if that is what Brentford have bought or if they’ve secured 100% of him.
Either way a deal has been agreed and Grêmio have accepted the youngster’s departure, despite him having a contract until 2028 that includes a release clause worth €80m.
He’s provided six goals and four assists in 38 games for the club so far and been one of their highlights of 2024, which has seemingly convinced Brentford to move to take him to the Premier League.
